Truth About Abs Overview
If you are overweight, then it’s VERY likely that you have stumbled upon Mike Geary’s famous Truth About Abs book.
The reason for this is that it’s heavily promoted by Mike and his affiliates. You will see very many reviews of this program, but most of them just blatantly promotes the book without any grounds, because it will make them money!
Fortunately, Truth About Abs is a good book with very good and solid information on dieting, exercise, motivation, lifestyle etc… And if you follow it you’ll definitely lose weight, BUT… it’s like with most anything…
There are no secrets!
The Truth About Abs doesn’t have a magic formula that’s any different or harder than “Work out harder and eat less food”…
The benefit I see with ordering any kind of fitness book is by doing it right from the start. (Save a bunch of time and money on useless personal trainers, supplements, gym memberships, etc)
Mike does a great job of explaining how Intense Resistance Training done in a circuit fashion (almost like HIIT) will shed fat amazingly fast.
This is true, but it’s nothing we’ve not seen before if we have been reading various books on exercise for the last few years. If you have not however, then Truth About Abs will be an eye opener for sure!
Hey! This is Tom Reinolds here and you’re reading my review of what I really thought about The Truth About Six Pack Abs.
The Workouts
The workouts do not require cardio, because it’s incorporated within the workout (HIIT – bodyweight and resistance training). You see, this stuff works and it works like crazy, so if you’re not familiar with this kind of workout style, then I find that the Truth About Abs is worth a read.
I would not get it if you are already doing some kind of HIIT, weight training and you are on a good solid diet (the BIG three main ingredients for fat loss)…
All you really need to lose fat is:
- Resistance Training/Strength Training to build muscle
- Cardio Activity, preferably High Intense Cardio (HIIT) for fat burn
- Good nutritional plan to lose fat and build muscle (fuel the body)
Not some kind of “magic book” or pill… A book is really just a crutch to get you there without thinking too much. I find it’s easier to have somebody else make up my workout and just DO THE WORK, not having to think of “why I should perform exercise 1 combined with exercises 2,3, and 4 today and not tomorrow, etc)
The thing is that if you are overweight and doing cardio for example, you are missing strength training. If you do strength training and don’t do cardio you’re also missing out.
And if you are only dieting you are pretty much missing the boat entirely. Dieting alone is the biggest mistake if you want to lose fat, but when you combine it with the other two compontents you get an amazing fat burning effect. Mike explains this well in Truth About Abs…
Truth About Abs: The methods
The methods explained in Truth About Abs is designed to SAVE TIME more than anything.
You’ll experience quicker fat loss with shorter amounts of time invested than doing 60 minutes of cardio and 60 minutes of resistance training by combining these workouts into what is called “resistance training curcuits” with super-sets.

It’s based around 6-8 exercises, 3-4 upper and 3-4 lower body exercises or at least (front and back exercises) such as push-up/squat or push-up/pull-up. These are then “super-setted” with each other in a way to get your heart rate up while resting the other body part simultaneously.
So you are doing 1 minute of work, but alternating TWO 30 second exercises that have nothing to do with each other, then rest 30-45 seconds and repeat. You’ll be doing this for each super-set within the workout.
This boosts your metabolism and helps with fat burn, because you are putting stress on the muscles to create an oxygen debt that the muscles need to make up for with energy… This energy will be used POST WORKOUT, meaning you are burning the majority of calories after the actual workout, by having an elevated metabolism…
If you are currently doing “traditional cardio” and you are not getting the best results then I would suggest moving to at least HIIT, which is 30 seconds hard, 30 seconds rest for example, for 10-15 minutes.
Also train hard with bodyweight or weights in a circuit fashion…
The benefit of ordering Truth About Abs (for a ridiculously low price that’s guaranteed) is that you have a proven way to reach your dream body using the full workouts, nutrition plan, rest periods, ideas, everything put together in a very nice step-by-step plan.
The question is not wheter or not Truth About Abs works or not, but wheter or not it’s right for you… Check out the program risk-free and see if it’s something for you or not… You’ll quickly experience some pretty cool results if you’ve never done this kind of workout before, that’s for sure!
My Story
- I hope you’re finding my review of The Truth About Abs useful and enlightening. It should help you make an informed decision as to whether it is for you or not. Mike Geary’s concepts have changed my life. It took effort and discipline on my part to make it work, but maintaining my six pack is the easy part.

Throughout my late teens and early twenties I found time to go to the gym and be active. I had a relatively healthy lifestyle and my weight was never an issue. The crushing responsibility of adulthood was yet to wreak havoc with my metabolic rate.
My first desk job required a move to the bright lights of the big city. The hours were long and I constantly craved sleep. I had no time for the gym or healthy meal preparation.
After a few years of living this insanely unhealthy lifestyle, it started to show outwardly. My hair and skin were a mess, but worse than this was the weight I’d gained around my abdomen. My clothes were all a bit too tight (especially all my jeans).
My self esteem had fallen through the floor, I was embarrassed to be seen without my shirt on, be it on the beach or around the pool. I felt as though I’d been hijacked by visceral fat. I perfected the art of covering my body with layers of clothing to hide the fat belly.
This really was a low point in my life, I felt as though I’d given up and was slowly letting my body slip to the point of no return.
When I’d finally hit rock bottom, something just snapped and I made a decision to change my life. I changed my job and MADE the time to get fit and healthy again and get back in control of my life. I joined the gym and worked out three times a week.
I filled my kitchen cupboards with healthy food. I needed to lose 25 lbs (11 kilos), after 6 months of the “new me”, I’d only lost 5lbs (2 kilos), not really the result I was after. I trained hard at the gym, I ran around the park in the mornings and I watched what I ate.
The lack of results took a huge toll on my motivation and commitment. Here I was killing myself and for what. It was so easy to slip back into a world of PROCRASTINATION and fast food.
After spending weeks on the net looking for some help/advice/answers on how to lose the belly fat, I came across The Truth About Abs by Mike Geary.
I’d already tried a high cardio exercise regime, I’d reduced my calorie intake, I was only eating healthy food and was doing crunch after crunch, however I wasn’t losing the stubborn stomach fat.
When I committed to buying The Truth About Abs and then committed to the program, the following happened:
- I developed a physique I’d only ever dreamt of having
- My self esteem and confidence went through the roof
- I had the healthy lifestyle I craved
- I had masses of energy
- I had more time to do the things I loved doing, because The Truth About Abs is not about spending hours in the gym or doing boring cardio
If you make the same commitment to yourself today, you could have that gorgeous beach body in time for summer.
My review of The Truth About Abs
The Truth About Abs is split into two sections. The first covers nutrition and the second exercise. The first thing you notice is that the book is long (149 pages) and very comprehensive. In fact it is a little daunting, but I persevered and spent the next few days, reading it from cover to cover.
The style of the book is very clear and concise, there is no waffle, it literally is fact after fact. It is also pretty idiot proof (good for me). The reason I say this is that from a practical perspective, it holds your hand through the entire process.
There are detailed diet plans with portion sizes and calories and every exercise is explained by way of photographs, so there is no room for misinterpretation.
The big question – Did it work for me?
At this point you really have to want to make it happen. The book can sit on your hard drive for months before you get round to it. You can procrastinate and delay, but like anything worth doing, you need to just get on with it and take it a step at a time. I probably had the toughest job from a fat perspective as I needed to lower my body fat by about 5% – which is the last bit of stubborn body fat that is particularly hard to lose unless you know how and Mike Geary’s book provides a complete blue print on how.
The Truth About Abs worked for me, because I made a commitment to myself and to be honest had wasted enough time already with all the other online junk. My target was my summer holiday, so that was motivation enough to get on with it.
Month 1
I learnt that literally everything I had been doing before, was wrong. I was eating the wrong foods (i.e. soya milk – thought it was great for me, turns out that it is quite the opposite – just google it to check) and my exercise regime was doing absolutely nothing to help me lower my body fat percentage. I was using single joint exercises, like dumbbell curls that don’t really do that much as opposed to multi joint exercises like squats that can increase your resting metabolic rate by as much as 7x. I was fatiguing and starving my body to the point that my metabolic rate was slowing and was in fact gaining some weight. How crazy is that, but we all do it.
Month 2
Once I’d put my nutrition and diet plan into place, the results were astonishing. Within a week, my stomach literally looked less distended (maybe it was psychological initially). But by the end of month 2, my upper abs were starting to show and most of the fat on my lower back was starting to go. I felt great and my energy levels were constant.
Month 3
It was in this month that it really started to happen and the great thing is, the more I started to see results, the greater my motivation. My clothes started to fit properly. I didn’t actually recognise myself in the mirror. Had never seen myself with a six pack – loved it. I’ve just hit my 30’s, I now weigh 170 lbs (77 kilos), I’m in the prime of my life and I feel incredible and my girl friend, well, she can’t keep her hands off me…..
Will it work for you?
The Truth About Abs will work, if you make a commitment to yourself. Find something that will motivate you like a beach holiday and go for it. My original goal was to just lose my belly, but the six pack was a real surprise and a great one at that. The key is to take each day at a time.

By pablo
The truth is that you need to have a very low body fat %. If it is not low enough no matter how much cardio or abs you do, you will never see abs. BTW i have not read the book but this is basically what you need to have abs.
By Donna
I was reading the truth about six abs and it said “do 10 reps of 3″ if a rep is to repeat something it did not say what to repeat. instructions and explanation would be nice. : )
and if it is to repeat, can you tell me what to repeat?
okay, and if it is a contraction and release excercise would a lunge be considered a rep?
examples please
By Blackompe
a rep is a ‘contraction and release’ movement of an exercise. One sit-up = one rep of sit-ups
By Monster Gym
Repeat your sit up 10 times (10 reps) and do 3 sets with a brief rest inbetween.

Hello,
Did you know that the vast majority of people in this day and age have excess abdominal fat? The first thing that most people think of is that their extra abdominal fat is simply ugly, is covering up their abs from being visible, and makes them self conscious about showing off their body.
However, what most people don’t realize is that excess abdominal fat in particular, is not only ugly, but is also a dangerous risk factor to your health. Scientific research has clearly demonstrated that although it is unhealthy in general to have excess body fat throughout your body, it is also particularly dangerous to have excess abdominal fat.
There are two types of fat that you have in your abdominal area. The first type that covers up your abs from being visible is called subcutaneous fat and lies directly beneath the skin and on top of the abdominal muscles.
The second type of fat that you have in your abdominal area is called visceral fat, and that lies deeper in the abdomen beneath your muscle and surrounding your organs. Visceral fat also plays a role in giving certain men that “beer belly” appearance where their abdomen protrudes excessively but at the same time, also feels sort of hard if you push on it.
Both subcutaneous fat and visceral fat in the abdominal area are serious health risk factors, but science has shown that having excessive visceral fat is even more dangerous than subcutaneous fat. Both of them greatly increase the risk your risk of developing heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke, sleep apnea, various forms of cancer, and other degenerative diseases.
Part of the reason visceral fat is particularly dangerous is that it apparently releases more inflammatory molecules into your body on a consistent basis.
If you care about the quality of your life and your loved ones, reducing your abdominal fat should be one of your TOP priorities! There’s just no way around it. Besides, a side-effect of finally getting rid of all of that excessive ugly abdominal fat is that your stomach will flatten out, and if you lose enough stomach fat, you will be able to visibly see those sexy six pack abs that everyone wants.
So what gets rid of extra abdominal fat? Is there actually a REAL solution beyond all of the gimmicks and hype that you see in ads and on commercials for “miracle” fat loss products?
The first thing you must understand is that there is absolutely NO quick fix solution. There are no pills or supplements of any sort that will help you lose your abdominal fat faster. Also, none of the gimmicky ab rockers, rollers, or ab belts will help get rid of abdominal fat either. You can’t spot reduce your stomach fat by using any of these worthless contraptions. It simply doesn’t work that way.
The ONLY solution to consistently lose your abdominal fat and keep it off for good is to combine a sound nutritious diet full of unprocessed natural foods with a properly designed strategic exercise program that stimulates the necessary hormonal and metabolic response within your body. Both your food intake as well as your training program are important if you are to get this right.
I’ve actually even seen a particular study that divided thousands of participants into a diet-only group and an exercise/diet group. While both groups in this study made good progress, the diet-only group lost significantly LESS abdominal fat than the diet & exercise combined group.
Now the important thing to realize is that just any old exercise program will not necessarily do the trick. The majority of people that attempt getting into a good exercise routine are NOT working out effectively enough to really stimulate the loss of stubborn abdominal fat. I see this everyday at the gym.
Most people will do your typical boring ineffective cardio routines, throw in a little outdated body-part style weight training, and pump away with some crunches and side bends, and think that they are doing something useful for reducing their abdominal fat. Then they become frustrated after weeks or months of no results and wonder where they went wrong.
Well, the good news is that Mike Geary, a renowned dietitian and fitness trainer has spent over a decade researching this topic, analyzing the science, and applying it “in the trenches” with myself as well as thousands of clients from all over the world to see what works to really stimulate abdominal fat loss.
The entire solution… all of the nutritional strategies, as well as training sequences, exercise combinations, and more have all been compiled into Mike Geary’s Truth About Six Pack Abs Program.
Keep in mind that the point of this whole program is NOT abdominal exercises (that is only a very small portion of it). The main point of this program is showing you the absolute most effective strategies for losing your stubborn abdominal fat, so you can get rid of that dangerous health risk, as well as get a flatter more defined midsection.
If you follow the guidelines, you WILL lose your belly fat that has been plaguing you for years. This is not guesswork… it is a proven system that works time and time again for all of Mike’s clients on every corner of the globe that actually apply the information I teach. If you apply it, the results will come. It’s really that simple.
The only reason most people fail in their fitness goals is that they have good intentions at first to adopt a new lifestyle, yet after a few weeks or months, they abandon their good intentions and slip right back into their old bad habits that gave them the excess body fat in the first place.
I want to help you succeed in finally getting rid of that extra abdominal fat that is not only UGLY, but also DANGEROUS.
Don’t waste another day allowing that nasty abdominal fat to kill your confidence as well as contribute to your risk for MAJOR diseases.
